Edwin, Jonathan and I did our peer teaching on business letter on last Thursday, 27th Jan 2011. We are the first group to embark on the peer teaching and thus we were both unsure and excited at the same time. We were unsure as there was no reference from any other teams’ peer teaching. However, we were excited as we have little restriction on the teaching styles and we kind of had a ‘free play’ situation.
The lesson consists of the following.
1. Introduction & Scenarios (by Yu Tian)
2. Basics of ‘Non Bad News’ messages(by Edwin)
3. Basics of ‘Bad News’ messages (by Jonathan)
4. The Trivia (the main quiz session)
5. Going through the response to the questions of the Trivia
6. Wrapping up (by Yu Tian)
We were really glad that the class participated actively and enjoyed themselves. The peer teaching concept of this module has indeed introduced a new dimension into the lesson. We welcome comments and feel free to point out ways that we can improve.
Hi,
ReplyDeleteYour group presentation was good but a bit too fast.
One thing I like is the sweet :).
I would suggest that you give all participating groups sweet, instead of wining group only.
Hi there,
ReplyDeleteI liked your presentation styles, especially when your group made an effort to make the presentation so interactive. But i agree that the presentation part was abit too fast for me to understand. So, we were a little confused when we were asked to raise the bad/non-bad and letter/memo cards.
But overall, it was really good and quite hard to match up to. ;)
HAHAHA!!
ReplyDeleteMichael, I'll be waiting to see your group present! And i'll be expecting sweets too! =)
And somehow,I think it's quite funny that Michael and Michelle are the first two commenting on Yu Tian's blog post! =)
Haha, the 2 M names that I would mess up often. Thank you for the promptly comments and advices =)
ReplyDeleteHi to the three of you! =)
ReplyDeleteI think your presentation was really good and fun!! =) I liked how you interacted with the audience and the way you presented it made me really want to learn more! Wonderful teachers in making! =)
Nonetheless, I think Yu Tian spoke a little too fast and I think that is probably because he was a little nervous and there really was quite a lot of content to cover! Jon was a little on the soft side but otherwise, you three are really a fab team! =)) I really enjoyed the lesson and now I feel pretty stressed out over my group's soon-to-be peer teaching lesson!
I found the presentation to be a splendid effort on the part of our first peer teaching group. The level of interaction and the charisma of the presenters was commendable.
ReplyDeleteI would have liked if the errors in the mock email were covered in class though, as there wasn’t sufficient opportunity for the quiz to cover them all.
Thanks Yu Tian, Edwin and Jonathan for the presentation last week. I really enjoyed learning from your team. You provided practical and realistic tips to write an appropriate business letter and a good framework to follow when writing a business letter. Your group was very concise and clear; fulfilling most of the 7Cs. As such, I readily understood the concepts that were taught. Moreover, your class activity provided me with the opportunity to apply what I learned during your presentation. Till now, I still can remember everything that was taught by your team and am sure it will be put to good use in the future. I also enjoyed the fact that every presenter made an effort to engage the audience and make eye contact.
ReplyDeleteYour team dynamics made the presentation very coherent and engaging. Edwin did a great job in using humour to capture the attention of the audience. Yu Tian was very methodical and organized in his presentation and Jonathan was very sincere and concise. The three of you made a great team and I thoroughly enjoyed the fact that you supported each other during the entire presentation.
However, I do have a few comments for improvement. It would be good if Yu Tian could stand closer to his audience, speak slower and smile more. This would provide a more comfortable setting for his audience, especially since it’s a classroom setting. As for Jonathan, it would be good if you speak a little louder and clearer as there were times when I could not catch your words. Moreover, you could have substantiated more on your reasons for preferring certain work during the activity session. Generally, more feedback could have been obtained during the presentation by asking the audience if they had any questions after every few slides.
Overall, I was very impressed by your presentation. I enjoyed the clear and organized powerpoint slides as well. Great Job!
Cheers!!!
Your presentation was really very good..Thank you very much for sharing!

@Eunice and Jac: Thanks for your feedback. I’ll speak louder next time =).
ReplyDelete@Eunice: Thanks for your comments about me needing to substantiate my reasons for preferring certain work over the others. I’ll keep that in mind and work on giving people concrete reasons to justify my choice. All the best for your presentation!
